Guillaume Fabre // Winemaker and Vineyard Manager
Born and raised in the southeast of France -- in the city of Narbonne -- Guillaume is a 6th generation winemaker. He pursued a major in enology and vineyard management at the Lycée Charlemagne in nearby Carcassonne, and graduated with his degree in 2001. After 24 years in Narbonne, he moved to Bordeaux. While both regions are famous for their wines, they are also very different from each other. Guillaume’s extensive experience and education allowed him to transition easily between the two regions, despite the different climates, soil types, vine illnesses and more. But life is full of surprises. Not convinced that he wanted to make wine in Bordeaux, he took a harvest internship at L’Aventure in Paso Robles, California. He fell in the love with the soil and terroir. As a result, a 3-month harvest internship turned into 6 months and an offer to be the Assistant Winemaker. While still juggling a full work load from L’Aventure, Guillaume meticulously planned for his own passion project and in 2007, Clos Solène was born. Then in 2014, impressed with the quality of their vineyard, Guillaume partnered with Blair and Simone under another new label, Al Lago Wines. He brings with him a lifetime of experience, the guidance of the generations before him, and an unwavering passion to create unparalleled wine.
Aurélien Crouzet // Assistant Winemaker
Aurélien began his journey at L’Aventure Winery as an intern during Guillaume's last harvest, where his impressive work ethic, enthusiasm, and skill quickly stood out. Recognizing his potential, Guillaume welcomed Aurélien to join his team as assistant winemaker in May 2016. With a strong family background in the wine business from Bordeaux, Aurélien understands the dedication it takes to excel in winemaking and grape growing, making him a vital addition to our winery.
