We are so blessed to grow many different fruits and vegetables at our home in addition to our wine grapes. This recipe is a remarkably simple but delicious recipe that we make as an appetizer when our Black Mission Figs are ripe.
No special culinary equipment is needed to prepare this simple and wonderful appetizer.
5-6 ripe Black Mission Figs, peeled and cut in half
1-½ tablespoons of Blue Cheese Crumbles (use small crumbles rather than large chunks) – Danish Blue Cheese is ideal for this recipe
1 tablespoon of aged Balsamic Vinegar
2 tablespoons of Candied Pecans, chopped
Place the figs in a serving dish in a single layer. Sprinkle the blue cheese crumbles over the top of the figs. Drizzle the aged balsamic vinegar over the figs and blue cheese, and then sprinkle the chopped, candied pecans over the top.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve this dish as a nice, light appetizer.
